Platelet Rich Plasma Treatment, Drawing Blood

PRP/PRFM by Selphyl Biostimulants:

Blood is broadly divided into three types of cells; red blood cells which carry oxygen, white blood cells which fight infection and platelets which help blood to clot. Platelets initiate the coagulation cascade which is an exquisite cascade of cellular events that lead to the formation of a blood clot. Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) and Platelet-rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM) are biological products defined as plasma with a platelet concentration above baseline.

The Process of Plasma Rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM)

PRFM describes a method of producing a dermal filler from a patient’s own platelets  and plasma. During a short office visit (30 minutes), a small amount of blood is drawn into a vacuum collection tube and then spun to separate red blood cells from the platelets and growth factors.  This is then transferred to a second tube containing a small amount of calcium chloride solution and fibrin polymerization begins. The resulting product is injected as a dermal filler or used topically with microneedles to stimulate skin tightening and the production of new collagen.

PRFM contains highly concentrated platelets, growth factors and cytokines which have been shown to stimulate new blood vessels and enhance stem cell migration.  Collectively, this leads to the production of new collagen which volumizes and smooths the skin for a more youthful appearance. PRP/PRFM has launched a revolution in regenerative aesthetic and regenerative medicine. Patients are experiencing amazing results with the treatment of the nasolabial folds, facial volumization, superficial wrinkles, acne scars, and many more!

Hair loss can be an emotionally difficult condition. Thankfully, recent advances in tissue engineering have made it possible for Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and micro needling to effectively treat thinning hair without surgery! PRP contains a high concentration of platelets, cellular growth factors and cytokines (cell-messengers) that enhance the body’s capacity to repair and regenerate tissue. A small sample of blood is taken during your appointment and spun in a centrifuge for several minutes. The mixture is then injected around the hair follicles to promote the growth of fuller thicker hair.  These growth factors bind to receptors expressed by stem cells at the base of the hair follicle and stimulate proliferative phase of the hair growth. They also stimulate angiogenesis or, the formation of new blood vessels, in order to boost blood supply and restores proper nutrients to the deprived hair follicles. PRP hair restoration is a fast outpatient procedure. Patients often notice improvement in hair texture, thickness, and regrowth within three weeks, however, it typically takes three to six months before measurable results are seen. Post-treatment restrictions are minimal and you may resume your schedule as soon as you leave our office!
